Wilma Lafleur Guilbeaux

Wilma Lee LaFleur Guilbeaux, 83, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Wilma was born on June 17, 1934 in Elton, LA to A Lee and Mae Duplichan LaFleur.

At the age of 17, Wilma married the love of her life, Herbert Joseph Guilbeaux and they were never apart for their 64 years of marriage except for the time he served in the Korean War. In her earlier years Wilma enjoyed working with her hands sewing and crocheting. She drove a school bus in Moss Bluff/Gillis for the Calcasieu Parish School Board for 28 years. Her first love and her hobby was children, she also loved flowers and gardening.

After Herbert retired at the age of 50, they were able to enjoy life together until his passing. They would tour with their Contraband Car Club friends, their Rethreads motorcycle group and with Herbert’s army reunion buddies. They loved camping, going to their camp at Bundick’s Lake and riding motorcycles into their 80’s.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Juanita LaFleur.

Those left to cherish Wilma’s memory include her three children, Charlotte Guilbeaux (Larry) Cormier, Tracy (T.J.) Guilbeaux, and Jill Guilbeaux (Ronald) Hanks along with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nellirine LaFleur Courville and her brother, Wayne Andrew (Susan) LaFleur.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2017, from 3PM-9PM at Johnson Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8AM-9:30AM. A funeral mass will be at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, LA at 10AM, officiated by Fr. Aubrey Guilbeau. Burial will be at the Old Ritchie Cemetery.
