Wilma Anne Chaisson Manuel, 88, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 1:37 PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in her residence.

Mrs. Manuel was born January 10, 1933 in Welsh, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for over sixty years.  She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Mrs. Manuel was a member of the Cajun French Music Association and could be found dancing every Tuesday at the Habibi Temple.  She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and had a love for children.  She watched and cared for many little ones throughout the years.

Mrs. Manuel is survived by her daughters, Anna Faye Atwell and husband T.D. and Christine Young, both of Lake Charles; companion, V. J. “Vergis” Chauvin of Lake Charles; bonus children; Ronnie Chauvin and wife Sandi, Mark Chauvin and wife Mary, David Chauvin and wife Suzie, and Joe and Caroly Toups; brother, Adam Chaisson of LeBleu Settlement; sister, Betty Hudson of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Rebecca Barras and husband Cayne, Sarah Marras and husband Eric, Lisa Smith and husband Chris, Kristen Taylor and husband Ethan, Laura Hartman and husband Eric, Taylor Clark and husband Brandon, Tanner Atwell and wife Stephany, and Eva Jeffers and husband Greg; bonus grandchildren, Jessica and Ronnie Bourque, Eric and Bridgette Chauvin, Shane and Karen Chauvin, Breanne Lavergne, and Alex and Michelle Chauvin; great-grandchildren, Dylan Barras, Daniel Barras, Bailey O’Cannon, Olivia Rose Barras, E. J. Marras, Dwayne Young and Raylin Clark, Aralynn, Blakley, Caspian, and Tank Atwell, Holli and Heidi Jeffers, and Austin and Owen Smith; and numerous other bonus great-grandchildren that she loved like her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Elwood Manuel; son-in-law, Aldon Young; brothers, Polly Chaisson, Wilson Chaisson, Wilton Chaisson, and LeRoy Chaisson; and sister, Mary Hebert.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Father Nathan Long will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Cursillo rosary at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the funeral home.
