Wilma Solari Floyd

Wilma Theresa Solari Floyd, 87, died Friday, June 14, 2013, in a local care facility.

Born to Floyd G. and Mary Adeline Tucker Solari on November 13, 1925, Mrs. Floyd was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a registered nurse and worked for Christus St. Patrick Hospital for thirty-five years, retiring in 1990. She was a faithful member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church.

She is survived by three sons, Joe Floyd and wife Billie Jo of Alabaster, Alabama, Rev. Bob Floyd and wife Barbi of Lake Charles, and John Floyd and wife Donyce of Sulphur; two daughters, Marie Petroski and husband Barry, and Susie Firmature, both also of Lake Charles; twenty grandchildren; and thirty-one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Paul Floyd, Jr., a son, Bill Floyd, daughter, Helen Hungerford Polk, and brother, Floyd J. Solari.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. John the Divine Orthodox Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Michael Pavez will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday at the funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate and loving care shown to their mother to the staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice.
