Wilson Joseph Legnion, 86, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 3:00 AM on Monday, April 4, 2016 in a local care facility.
Mr. Legnion was born November 13, 1929 in Ebenezer, LA, was raised in Crowley, LA and was a 1948 graduate of Crowley High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and participated in the Invasion of Inchon during the Korean War. He also trained people for the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team). Mr. Legnion worked in the pipeline industry all of his life, retiring from Colonial Pipeline. He was of the Catholic faith and was an avid reader. He also loved history, Cajun music and Blue Grass country music and was an avid sports fan.
Mr. Legnion is survived by her sisters, Brunella McGee of Reeves, LA, Shirley Sparkman of Carthage, TN, and Norma Dugan and husband Jerry of Lake Charles, LA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ida Legnion; and close cousin and friend, Jim Baker.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate and Roxy Long will give his eulogy. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
His pallbearers will be A. J. Doucet, Jerry Dugan, Joey Dugas, Kenny Dupont, Nathan Hebert, and Buster Melancon.
