Winifred Mary Brawner

May 9, 1924 — February 15, 2022

Winifred Mary Brawner was one of three children born to the late Thomas and Jane Oakley. She was born on May 9, 1924 in Grays, Essex, England.

While proudly serving her country during World War II, it was during her enlistment she met an American Solider, Herman Brawner. They exchanged vows on July 6, 1944 and together welcomed four children.

She was a stay-at-home mother and wife who dutifully cared for her family. As a member of the Pink Ladies, she volunteered her time at local hospitals and also enjoyed traveling with her friends on many bus trips across America.

She was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 by her beloved husband Herman Brawner; grandson, Brian Coit; parents; a sister, Mabel Oakley; a brother, Thomas Oakley; and a son in-law, Richard Bertrand.

Those left to cherish her memory; Anita (Weston) Trahan, Carol Bertrand, Edward (Charleen) Brawner, and David (Carolyn) Brawner; ten grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren, and extended family.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church beginning at 10 until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial led by Father Jace Eskind will begin 1:30pm. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Melinda with Brighton Bridge Hospice.
