Winnie Mae Doucet Romain

Winnie Doucet Romain, 83, of Lake Charles died at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Romain was born on September 8, 1932 in Egan, LA and lived in Lake Charles since 1962.  She was a hairdresser at Marie’s Beauty Shop for 22 years.  Mrs. Romain was a past member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a current member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.

She adored her grandchildren and cherished her time spent with them.  Mrs. Romain was often found dancing to Cajun music and will be remembered for her cooking skills.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sandra Romain Sanders of Lake Charles; a son, Ricky Paul Romain (Leah) of Ragley; three sisters, Shirley Penn, Lois Doucet, and Ormagene Gouthreaux all of Crowley; six grandchildren, Michelle Sanders, James Sanders, Kimberly Sanders Smith (Derrell), Monica Sanders Abshire (Josh), Megan Romain Spears (Logan), and Zachary Romain (Alicia); and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and O’Neal Doucet; her husband, James Romain; a son, Stevens Romain; and a sister, Berline.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
