Wylie Mae Greene, 92, of Fenton, LA passed away at 11:16 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in a Baton Rouge hospital. Mrs. Greene was born on December 26, 1922 in Maringouin, LA and had lived in Fenton most of her life. She was a graduate of Shady Grove High School and attended University of Southwest Louisiana (USL). Mrs. Greene was Postmaster for 30 years in Fenton. She was a member of the Welsh Methodist Church and later in life attended Fenton Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Methodist Women Circle. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and tending to her garden. Mrs. Greene was an avid reader and was especially interested in reading history material. In her younger years, she would often go horseback riding. She was a positive person who loved people and adored her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are five sons, Kenny Greene (Roberta) of Tennessee, Donny Greene (Charlene) of Lake Charles, Tommy Greene (Cathy) of Maringouin, LA, Craig Greene (Wanda) of Opelousas, LA, and Mark Greene (Staci) of Maringouin, LA; three daughters, Kathy McDonough (Tim) of Kountze, TX, Stephanie Elter (Alan) of Fenton, and Tami Schexnayder (Donald) of Erwinville, LA; twenty-two grandchildren; and fifty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Greene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Donald Willis will officiate, assisted by two of her grandsons, Reverend Eric Greene and Reverend Troy Greene. Burial will follow in Fenton Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Giles Fort and his staff and also the nurses at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge for their care and compassion.
