Yvonne Belle Greenleaf Richard

Yvonne Belle Greenleaf Richard, 63, of Lake Charles died on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in a Houston hospital. Mrs. Richard was born on December 1, 1950 in Lake Charles and was a graduate of LaGrange High School. She earned a bachelor degree from McNeese State University where she belonged to the honor society Phi Kappa Phi. She went on to study at Barry University in Florida and received her B.S. in Nursing. Mrs. Richard began her career as a teacher at Hamilton Christian Academy before pursuing her nursing career. She chose to be a travel nurse which allowed her to travel with her son and his family in the military. She was known for her crafting and enjoyed swimming and gardening. Mrs. Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Those left to cherish her memory are a son, SSG (Ret) Jeremy Richard and wife Amanda Rogers of Austin, TX; a brother, Dr. Wayne Greenleaf and wife Andree of Ventress, LA; two sisters, Maureen Greenleaf Liles and Loretta Greenleaf both of Moss Bluff; and three grandchildren, Kelli, Balin, and Sawyer Richard all of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Kat" Richard and her parents, A.J. and Irene Butaud Greenleaf. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 29. 2014 at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. The Rev. Steve Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery in Carencro, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue in the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
