Yvonne Rose Johnson

September 18, 1942 — May 26, 2018

Yvonne Rose Johnson, 75, passed away on Saturday May 26, 2018 in a Longview care facility. She battled vascular dementia for eleven years.

 

Ms. Johnson was born on September 18, 1942 in Beaumont, TX, but she lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She loved reading, dancing, fishing, listening to Cajun music, but most of all spending time with family.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Valerie Scalisi of Many, LA, Mark Scalisi and Jill of Baton Rouge, LA, and Meloney S. Mitchell and husband Chris, of Longview, TX; step sons, Jerome J. Scalisi, Jr. and Nathan T. Scalisi and wife Carolyn, of Lake Charles; step daughter, Mary Mae Seitzler and husband Danny, of Prairieville, LA; siblings, Marie Bryson and Joseph Thibodeaux of Lake Charles and Zelma Spell of Westlake. She has 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends who will miss her dearly.

 

Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents Olide and Azalie Thibodeaux; husbands, Jerome J. Scalisi, Sr. and Sidney M. Johnson, Jr.; step son, Victor Scalisi; and her siblings, T-Ray Thibodeaux, Rena Lognion, Rita Estes, Elvin Thibodeaux, Martin Thibodeaux, Melvin Thibodeaux, and Betty Ogea.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 2 PM on Wednesday May 30, 2018. Father Trey Ange will officiate. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday May 29, 2018 from 4 PM until 9 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until 1:45 PM.
