Yvonne Sonnier

Yvonne Sonnier, 89, passed away on September, 15, 2018 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Sonnier was a devout Catholic, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and was a long time member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven. She retired after around 20 years of service to the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a cafeteria worker. She enjoyed traveling, camping, trips to the casino anytime, visiting her sisters in Eunice, and keeping a tidy home. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a mother figure to many others. She was our rock!

She is survived by six children, Randall J. Sonnier (Connie), Linda F. LeBert (Ray), Wanda K. Beaird (John), Janet Leigh Fruge, Larry G. Sonnier, and Teresa A. Hermann (Freddy); thirteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Singleton.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elery Joseph Sonnier; parents, Velius and Ellen Fruge; and six siblings.

A Burial of Christian Mass will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 2PM. Reverend Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 17 from 5PM to 8PM and will resume Tuesday morning at 11AM until the start of the service. A rosary will be held Monday evening at 6PM.
