Betty Joyce Fuselier Chaisson

February 6, 1935 — January 24, 2021

Betty Joyce Fuselier Chaisson, 85, of Lake Charles, most recently of Frisco, TX died January 24, 2021. She was surrounded by her family in hospice after previously surviving severe covid.

Mrs. Chaisson was born and raised in Sweetlake, LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles.  She was a cheerleader at Grand Lake High School.  She married Harry Chaisson and was a homemaker and mother of two.  When the children were grown, she worked as tumor registrar eventually becoming Regional Tumor Registrar at St. Patrick’s Hospital and later worked at LCMH until her retirement.  As a cancer survivor, her work had special meaning.

Mrs. Chaisson loved entertaining in her home, traveling, gardening, and reading.  She was gifted at sewing her entire life and even created her daughter’s wedding dress and pattern.  She was previously a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church.  She and her husband were active in the Country French Music Association.  She was fun-loving, adventurous, and outgoing woman.

She leaves to honor her memory one son, Larry Chaisson and wife Susan of The Colony, TX; one daughter, Shari Cormier and husband Harold of Pineville, LA; five grandchildren, Kristy Chaisson Sullivan, Joseph Chaisson, and Seth Chaisson, all of The Colony, TX, Jordan Cormier of Shenzhen, China, and Drew Cormier of Lubbock, TX; three great-grandchildren, Kiley, Patrick and Kaytlin Keck; and her life-long bestfriend, Urah Greathouse.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harry Chaisson; her parents, Eva and Raymond Fuselier; and one sister, Florence Fuselier Klump.

Her memorial gathering will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church.  Father Rojo Koonathan will officiate.  A private burial will be Highland Memory Gardens, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
